New Trustees Wanted

Help make Glasgow Ice Centre flourish

At least two voluntary roles available

Glasgow Ice Centre is recruiting at least two trustees to help develop a modern, sustainable ice centre serving Glasgow’s communities. Further appointments may be made where candidates bring complementary expertise.

Our purposes are to increase access to curling, ice hockey and skating, encourage participation, and improve health and community wellbeing through sport and recreation.

The work ahead

Our immediate priority is to refresh the project’s feasibility and business case: review the previous study, explore a broader range of options and decide whether to revise and extend the existing work or commission a new feasibility study.

We need people with substantial relevant professional experience, enthusiasm and time to contribute directly. You will help shape decisions and take ownership of agreed work between meetings.

Experience we particularly welcome

Business analysis Feasibility assessment, business planning and evaluation of development options.

Property and development Planning, sites or capital projects, especially knowledge of Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Life and local leisure or community development.

Finance and accounting Financial appraisal, budgeting and effective oversight of the charity’s resources.

We seek a mix of skills across the appointments. An ice hockey perspective would be particularly valuable. You do not need previous trustee experience or to participate in ice sports, but you should understand their benefits and share our determination to make the project happen.

Commitment and shared responsibilities

Allow an average of around two hours a week for preparation and practical work, alongside quarterly board meetings as a minimum. Work can be organised flexibly, with additional meetings at key stages.

Trustees share responsibility for strategy, finances, risk and compliance. You will act in the charity’s interests, exercise independent judgement, ask constructive questions, declare conflicts of interest and follow through on agreed actions.

This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Out-of-pocket expenses may be reimbursed with prior board agreement. Induction arrangements will be confirmed before appointment.

Access and inclusion, community benefit, sustainability, integrity and collaboration guide our work. We welcome people of all backgrounds who can demonstrate the relevant skills, experience and commitment.

How to apply
