Since reporting on the findings of our successful feasibility study last year, Glasgow Ice Centre and IPW Ltd have begun positive conversations with potential partners; including Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Life, on our proposal to deliver a multi-use Ice Facility. The discussions have been very well received and include deliberations on project funding, location, and operator options.
We have been asked, by potential stakeholders, to consider and advise on the inclusion of an Ice Hockey Franchise within the project. It is anticipated this update to the Feasibility Study to include such an option will be complete in the coming weeks.
The Virtual Kiltwalk, achieved over the weekend of 23-25 April 2021, was a great success with 17 brilliant volunteers who signed up to take on physical challenges to raise funds for the development of ice sports in Glasgow. The Hunter Foundation has pledged to boost all our fundraising by 50%, so the final total coming directly to Glasgow Ice Centre will be more than £10,000 – well done team, and a big thank you to all who donated.
We have also launched Glasgow Ice Centre branded face masks. They are comfortable, effective and each mask purchased provides us with a £7 donation. Click here to view and purchase .
