Eve Muirhead MBE
Eve is a funded Curling athlete as the Skip of Team Muirhead with British Curling. She is a four time Olympian, winning Gold in Beijing 2022 and Bronze at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. She is also a former World Champion and European Champion.
Eve was awarded an MBE in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours, for services to Curling.

It has been difficult to watch rinks closing over the years, and the prospect of a new purpose-built venue in a central city like Glasgow is exciting for all Curlers! I hope this will attract a lot of new people to the sport in the years to come”.
Aileen Neilson
Aileen is a World medallist and Paralympic medallist in Wheelchair Curling. She is the first woman to Skip a team in the sport of Wheelchair Curling at both the World Championships and the Paralympic Games.
“Since 2001, Braehead Wheelchair Curling Club was a lifeline for many wheelchair users with various disabilities. A new ice rink in Glasgow would allow members to continue to socially interact and participate in sport helping their physical and mental well-being, and maybe also go on to realise their dreams, just as I did”.
Ross Paterson
Ross is a funded Curling athlete as the Skip of Team Paterson with British Curling. He is a former Scottish Champion, European bronze medallist and Grand Slam Champion. Ross lives in Glasgow.
“I feel passionately about both the development of Curling in Glasgow and bringing through the next generation of young athletes. I would love to be a part of bringing these opportunities to Glasgow and create a buzz around ice sports in the city!”
Mark Hanretty
Mark is a professional Figure Skater with ITV’s Dancing On Ice, and is from Glasgow. He represented great Britain at World and European championships as well as winning multiple international choreography accolades.
“I couldn’t be more excited at the prospect of a new ice rink in Glasgow! I was so sad to be forced to pursue my skating ambitions away from home and I’d be delighted to help future Scottish skating stars achieve their goals from within this new and exciting venue!”
Lewis Gibson
Lewis Gibson is the current Senior British Ice Dance Champion along with his partner Lilah fear. They are World and European competitors and Grand Prix medalists. Lewis began skating in 2011 after watching the first season of ITVs Dancing on Ice. Inspired, he went along to his local learn to skate in Ayr and never looked back.

Pete Russell
Pete Russell is head coach of the Great Britain men’s national ice hockey team and also of “Wolfe” EHC Freiburg, a professional team in Germany. Born in Bellshill and brought up in Ayr, he remembers with fondness the great many hours spent at Ayr Ice Rink growing up learning to skate and playing hockey. He made his debut with Ayr Raiders in 1990 just before they moved to the (now closed) Centrum Arena in Prestwick.
