Name change for local curling development group

The Braehead Curling Development Group (BCDG), formerly based in the curling rink at the Intu shopping centre in Renfrewshire, held their Annual General Meeting on Thursday 1st October on Zoom.

The meeting approved a proposed change of name to Glasgow Curling Development Group (GCDG).

Alan Hannah, Trustee of Glasgow Ice Centre and Chair of GCDG, said that the work of the curling development group would continue until such time as a new ice facility is delivered in Glasgow.

The principle roles of the GCDG are: promoting participation in all forms of curling at all age levels; supporting curling clubs with initiatives to find new members and supporting the development of coaches and umpires.

These are exciting times for ice sports in Glasgow and the Glasgow Curling Development Group has an important role to play in creating a sustainable development plan for Curling. The GCDG Committee look forward to working with all Curlers, Scottish Curling and all other stakeholders as we move into a new chapter for Curling in Glasgow
